Sony Pictures Home Entertainment plans on releasing a special gift edition (surprise, surprise) of this year’s Ghost Rider on Nov 13,2007. The special edition contains 15 minutes extra footage and “special” goodies.
The folks at comingsoon give us this:
The Ghost Rider Gift Set will be available for $59.95 SRP. Viewers will get a chance to go behind the action with DVD bonus featurettes “Spirit of Vengeance” and “Spirit of Adventure,” as well as listen to commentaries with writer/director Mark Steven Johnson (Daredevil), visual effects supervisor Kevin Mack, and producer Gary Foster. The extended cut DVD includes an additional behind-the-scenes featurette called “Spirit of Execution,” along with the “Sin and Salvation” series of featurettes which delves into the history of the Ghost Rider comics. Animatics are also featured, offering fans a look at the computer animation behind Ghost Rider. The Extended Cut of Ghost Rider features an additional 15 minutes of never-before-seen footage including more suspense, more story and more excitement! Additional scenes include more backstory between Johnny Blaze (Cage) and his father, additional scenes between Johnny and evil incarnate Mephistopheles (Fonda) and an intense confrontation between the Caretaker (Elliot) and Blackheart (Bentley).
As much as I’d love to see more Sam Elliot and Peter Fonda, I think I’m going to pass. Seriously, I’d rather endure a painful bikini wax than have to watch this piece of crap again. Although, I can’t lie, there are pretty cool features for this gift set. It’s just not worth the 59.95 in my opinion. Honestly, there’s now an extended version of this movie? The idea of watching that cut is as appealing as watching the extended cut to Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof. ( For which I would rather endure a BRAZILIAN bikini wax than to watch THAT.)
However, there are quite a few of Ghost Rider fans I ‘m sure are ecstatic about this news. So on November 13, 2007 go get this “must have” gift set if you’re one of the few that enjoyed this flick.
