A lot of people out there loved James Gunn’s ‘Slither’, although it only got love when the movie hit DVD shelves. Now following Slither’s sleeper hit success on DVD, James Gunn is trying again to make a successful theatrical horror/sci-fi-comedy.
SciFi.com gives us this:
The comedy follows a man abducted by aliens who want to turn him into a household pet. Pets is the latest in a series of Regency deals for projects geared to a young male demographic. The film will be distributed by 20th Century Fox.
This movie sounds genius and I’m glad James Gunn is giving this experimental genre another go. It’s kind of like when the first Austin Powers came out in theatres. It made almost no money at the box office, but racked up the dough and the word of mouth when it hit video stores. The sequel made large money at the box office, and I think the same thing is going to happen for Mr. James Gunn’s next project.
If you haven’t seen Slither, I’d recommend you get your ass to the video store and watch this not so hidden gem.
