Jon Stewart Hosting 2008 Oscars

Jon-Stewart-2008-OscarsLet there be joy! Let there be songs sung while running through fields of daisy’s and various cute animals. Let our glasses be raised in joyous celebration! Ellen IS NOT hosting the 2008 Oscars! Even Atheists around the world are re-thinking their philosophy at this joyous news. Ellen was nothing short of BRUTAL hosting that show last year… and I can honestly tell you, without a word of exaggeration, as much as I love the Oscars and look forward to it each year… I wouldn’t have even watched the show this year if they brought Ellen back. Yes, she was that bad.

Anyway, that was the GOOD news. The “ok” news is that Jon Stewart will be back to host the 2008 show. The reason I call it “ok” is that although I love Stewart and think the man is hilarious and very smart… he’s still just a TV personality. And even though he started to loosen up and got better as the 2006 show went along… he didn’t exactly knock it out of the park either. It will be interesting to see how he does this time around.

I’ve always said… and still believe… that the biggest night on the movie industry’s calendar, where they celebrate movies and the movie world… SHOULD BE HOSTED BY A MOVIE PERSONALITY. Call me crazy. Bring in George Clooney to host it… or bring Steve Martin back… you know… legitimate movie personalities. Heck… get Kevin Smith to host the damn thing if you want to shake things up.

In general, I’m ok with Jon Stewart coming back to host… I really am. I was just hoping for something a little different.
