More On Highlander: The Source

Remember a long time ago we first heard the news that Adrian Paul was going back to work on The Highlander to give us a new movie that “would be better than them all”? He promised a great film that he was very excited about… yadda yadda yadda. Never mind the fact that every Highlander movie since the original has been absolute rubbish (meh… ok… highlander 3 had SOME merit… but still).

Then came the rumors of problems. And then came the word that the new movie “Highlander: The Source” may not even make it to the big screen… and then came the big blow… the movie wasn’t even going to DVD… it was going straight to TV and is going to be airing as a SCI FI original movie on the network. OUCH!

Anyway, the “movie” is set to hit the air tomorrow (Sept 15th) at 9pm. The SCI FI site gives us some more details on the project:

“Everything has gone to pot, basically,” Paul said in an interview. “The world is sitting in another place and time, and he’s kind of lost hope as to ever being anybody or achieving anything. Everybody keeps saying, ‘You’re the one. You’re the guy. You’re the … .’ But virtually everyone he knows has died, and the world has turned to s–t, and so he’s kind of like, ‘OK, I don’t know what to do anymore with who I am or what I’m supposed to be here for.'”

The movie also focuses on his search for his lost love, a band of immortal searching for “The Source” (I’m guessing it’s the source or cause of their immortality), and a slight deviation from all the other Highlander incarnations… this film won’t have any flashback scenes. I think that’s a cool idea… even though flashbacks have been an integral part of Highlander story telling… they need to make this one feel different.

So what do you say? Are you going to tune in to watch Highlander: The Source?
