As we mentioned yesterday, Paddy Considine will NOT be in the upcoming The Punisher: War Zone movie as the bad guy. He threw a little whinny bitch hissy fit about it too after finding out they withdrew their offer to be in it… but that’s old news now. The NEW news is that they have gone ahead and added some new cast. The folks over at Cinematical give us the following:
Dash Mikok as Detective Martin Soap, Colin Salmon as Agent Paul Budiansky and Doug Hutchinson as Loony Bin Jim. Alexander concludes the announcement by teasing us once again: “As I look at their headshots on the wall in my office, my heart does little summersaults. And… I have the perfect, most talented Jigsaw!!!!!!! Stay tuned.
So they have their villain (Jigsaw)… but they’re just not telling us yet who it is. Ok… this ain’t like Batman where people are checking the internet every 10 minutes to see who will be the new Joker… but I’m glad she seems excited about whoever it is they have.
BUT HERE’S THE QUESTION:
Does anyone care? Yes I know a lot of people didn’t like the other Punisher movies… but this is a new director, new cast, new writer… so it’s going to be a different movie than the other ones. But that doesn’t mean it’s either going to be good or bad… just a different film. I’m just not detecting ANY real positive buzz about this project yet.
And another thing…
Is Lexi Alexander the first female director for a comic book movie? I’m honestly asking…. can anyone think of another one off the top of theirs heads? If she’s the first one… I’m surprised they’re not making a bigger deal out of it.
