A couple of days ago we reported that Paddy Considine (Hot Fuzz) was offered the role of the big bad guy in the upcoming Punisher movie. Paddy said he was offered he role, and that he was reading the script later the next day. Well… don’t break out your Jigsaw masks just yet… the studio withdrew their offer and no longer want Paddy in the film.
Apparently, Paddy was their second choice for the role. Whoever the first choice was turned the project down, and then they offered it to Paddy. However, the first choice (whoever that is) changed their mind and so the studio axed Considine. And wow… Considine is acting like a bit of a suck about it.
The professional thing to do is put out a statement saying something like “Yes, I’m disappointed, but I hope all the best for the project”, or “It’s for the best” or something fluffy like that. But instead, the dude handled the rejection by lashing out at the film, the filmmakers and talked about how stupid he film is probably going to be anyway. The folks at MovieWeb have this:
“I’m very dubious because the other films looked shite. Then whoever is responsible said that their original choice has decided to do it, therefore pulling my offer. The only blessing was that I didn’t waste an hour of my life reading the script.”
YIKES! Hey Paddy… if you think the franchise is so shite (not that I’m going to argue with you) and you’re so relieved that you don’t have to waste your time reading the script… why were you so damn quick to jump on your website and proclaim how you were offered the role in the first place? yeah… good job.
