Pauly Shore in Opposite Day

Pauly-Shore-OppositeThe term “flash in the pan” was pretty much created for Pauly Shore. The guy broke onto the scene in a pretty big way, but people got tired of his schtick pretty quick and recognized in basic lack of entertainment in him… then the process of healing began. Pretty soon Shore was just GONE, only to have his name kept alive by various running gags on Letterman and the like.

I caught an item of news today that sort of shocked me. Dick Van Patten (8 Is Enough, Spaceballs) has joined the new Pauly Shore film Opposite Day. Wait…. hold the phone…. there’s a new Pauly Shore movie?!?! Really? Are you sure it’s not some MTV reality show? A real movie huh? Wow.

Now don’t misinterpret what I’m saying as outright Pauly Shore bashing. The dude had SOME very good stand up, and even I was a fan of Son In Law (although the presence of a very hot Tiffani Thiessen fresh off Saved By The Bell may have had something to do with it). I just thought Shore had moved on to…. I don’t know… selling discount beer out of the back of some truck someplace. It’s just a bit surprising to see his name pop back up.

So what do you think? Are you… or where you a Pauly Shore fan? Do you welcome his return? Are you like me and often find yourself routing for the underdog comeback story? (source: Movieweb)
