When I read this news today, I didn’t know whether to roll my eyes, drop my jaw, or laugh hysterically. (So I did all three) It turns out the Brett Ratner/Chris Tucker collaboration disasters are still coming.
ComingSoon gives us this:
“Rush Hour” franchise director Brett Ratner and star Chris Tucker are set to reteam with New Line on an adaptation of the book “Mr. S: My Life With Frank Sinatra.” Ratner is attached to direct and produce and Tucker is eyeing the starring role of Sinatra valet George Jacobs.
The book, a dishy tell-all written by Jacobs and William Stadiem, was first published by HarperCollins in 2003. It offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the world of Sinatra and the Rat Pack
.
Okay, what the f*ck is Brett Ratner thinking?! Now I know a lot of directors out there hire the same actor over and over in movies, because usually the actors show some kind of loyalty to the director, but the only thing Chris Tucker has proven is how much of an arrogant, selfish and greedy man he is when it comes to Brett Ratner. Honestly, the man starred in Brett Ratner’s first feature, Money Talks and then catapulted to fame after Ratner’s Rush Hour, and when it came to making the third Rush Hour film, he asked for an outlandish amount of money. That’s loyalty? That’s friendship? Who the f*ck would want to work with this actor again?
Don’t get me wrong, I think Chris Tucker has the potential to be a better actor. This role sounds like a good opportunity to show off some of his dramatic flair. (He has proven he had some years ago in ‘Dead Presidents’) It’s just his high squeaky voice (which he NEVER used to have when he did stand up in the early 90’s) and his lame Michael Jackson impressions are tired and I think the world has had enough.
This is a great move for Tucker, considering Ratner is the only man who would probably hire him again for a project, but Brett, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?
