I’ve written about Sean Bean here on The Movie Blog numerous times. I just love this guy in everything I see him in… even the horrible movies (ahem…. Silent Hill). Somehow this actor can pull huge range while exuding a strong sense of strength regardless of the role. Boromir (from Lord of the Rings) is one of my all time favorite characters in fiction… so much honor and strength, and yet frailty and weakness…. but above all else courage. Not an easy character to play… and yet Bean made it look easy.
Now there is word of a really interesting project Bean has himself involved in called “The Root of All Evil”. The good folks over at Moviehole describe it like this:
“Root of All Evil” – previously known as “The Cache” – is a psychological thriller which examines three stark and not so flattering truths about human nature — Man’s cowardice versus his courage, women’s sexual attraction to “bad boys”, and the morality of money. These truths are woven into a thematic overview inspired by a 1961-62 Yale University obedience experiment by Dr. Stanley Milgram which proved the ease with which human beings shuck all personal responsibility for heinous acts or crimes while under the influence of an outside authority.
Sounds good to me. As a side note, Bean also has a Shakespearian film going into production soon called “Come Like Shadows” where he plays Macbeth. Gotta keep that on on my radar.
