Tim Burton Gets Lifetime Award At Venice Film FestI

Tim-Burton-VeniceI certainly wouldn’t have given it to him. Personally I think Tim Burton is the most horrendously overrated director working in movies today (please note I didn’t say WORST director… just seriously overrated). But even I have to admit that there is no denying Burton has made some very popular films, and thus being honored at the Venice Film Festival with their version of the Lifetime Achievement Awards shouldn’t surprise anyone.

“Hopefully it just inspires me to keep going,” Burton told reporters in Venice, speaking of the award. The 49-year-old Burton is best known for his quirky stories and the gothic atmosphere of his pictures, which also include “Batman,” “Beetle Juice,” “Big Fish,” “Mars Attacks!” and a remake of “Planet of the Apes.”

Tim Burton’s next film coming out is Sweeney Tood which looks like it could be very worth watching. I can honestly say I always go into Burton’s films giving him the benefit of the doubt… I just usually walk out regretting it (oddly enough, I thought he did a great job with his remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory… which is many of Burton’s fans least favorite film of his… go figure).
