I’m a movie nut… what many of you many not know is that I’m also a big MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fan and followthe UFC pretty closley (just starting to get to know the other organizations too), and if you’ve followed the UFC at all, it’s hard not to be a big Randy Couture fan. The man is the modern Rocky. A devastating fighter… very well spoken, very respectful, never talking smack, a gentle soul really…. who just so happens to be able to beat the crap out of you at the drop of a hat.
He comes out of retirement in his 40’s to fight for the title… and shocks the world by beating the hell out of the heavyweight champion… and he hasn’t looked back since. I just love this guy.
Anyway, I was reading one of the MMA blogs a little while ago (I’m sitting in the Buffalo Airport writing this on my way to Los Angeles) and I came across this news that I can’t believe I hadn’t heard before…. apparently The Champ is playing “A lead role” in “The Scorpion King: The Akkadian”.
Can Randy act?!?! I have no idea… but as much as I LOVE LOVE LOVE this guy, I just hate it when they give major roles in a film to non-actors. Doesn’t matter if it’s a singer or an MMA fighter. But who knows… maybe the role isn’t actually that big… and maybe Randy doesn’t talk too much and just beats a lot of people up. It’ll be interesting to see.
