We’ve been hearing for a while now about the upcoming film 10,000 BC. I’ll be honest with you… everything I’ve seen and heard from this movie just screams “Quest for Fire” to me… and I don’t mean that in a good way. However, the way the movie is described over at Movieweb makes it sound like it has promise:
The film starring Steven Strait and Camilla Belle centers on a 21-year-old who lives among a primitive tribe that survives by hunting a mammoth each year as the herd migrates through the tribe’s homeland. It was a time when man and beast were untamed and the mighty mammoth roamed the earth. A time when ideas and beliefs were born that forever shaped mankind. 10,000 B.C. follows a young hunter (Steven Strait) on his quest to lead an army across a vast desert, battling saber tooth tigers and prehistoric predators as he unearths a lost civilization and attempts to rescue the woman he loves (Camilla Belle) from an evil warlord determined to possess her.
Well, evil Warlords are always good. The visual effects possibilities on something like this are staggering. Imagine how impressive it will look on a 40ft screen watching a pack of hunters trying to bring down a Mammoth! Pretty slick. I’ve gotta say I don’t really like the poster… but it’s just a poster. What do you think?
