Recently we heard about Eva Mendes being cast as the femme fatale, Sand Saref in Frank Miller’s upcoming project, ‘Will Eisner’s The Spirit’. She was able to tell Movieweb.com that the film shoots starts in a couple of weeks and a few details regarding the rehearsals for the film.
MovieWeb gives us this:
We just had a table read, and we are having a few rehearsals. I’ll know more when I get there. I am so eager. I love the way the rehearsals went. Frank is really great with actors. And this will be interesting, because he told me that this was going to be like acting class. He said, “We will be shooting you on stage, and if you don’t actually directly touch it, it won’t exist in the shot.” So, like this wall. It won’t be in the shot if I don’t touch it. It’s going to be all CGI. It is going to be this graphic world that he creates. It should be interesting, because I have never worked like that.
It looks like Frank Miller is going to direct this in the same style ‘Sin City’ was directed. The question is, is that a good thing? Is it a good idea to keep filming movies in graphic novel style? ‘Sin City’ was different and original, and I’m afraid if we keep seeing movies done in this format, it just won’t be as striking anymore.
