My Name Is Bruce Sequel

One of the most amazingly creative (and yet obvious at the same time) ideas I’ve heard in the movie world the last year or so has been the concept behind Bruce Campbell’s new film “My Name Is Bruce“. For those of you behind the bell curve a little, the idea for the film is that Bruce Campbell plays HIMSELF… the actor… Bruce Campbell. But when a small town starts being over run by demonic monsters, some folks believe the only person who can save them is Ash from the Evil Dead series (and they confuse Bruce with actually being Ash). And so, Bruce Campbell is called upon to go fight monsters. GENIUS!

The interesting thing here is that it looks like they may start moving ahead with shooting a sequel to the movie very soon. Bloody Disgusting has the following:

Image Entertainment is releasing MY NAME IS BRUCE in select theaters and on home video in 2008, but he might begin working on the sequel, MY NAME IS STILL BRUCE, before the first is ever released.

This movie is going to be pure gold just for the novelty factor alone… and with a lower end budget, you know it’ll make money… so why not do a sequel? Besides food, clean water and peace… the one thing this world really needs more of is Bruce!

One bit of sadness comes with this though. In hearing about a sequel to “Bruce”, I can’t help but lament a little for the film that could have been… Bubba Nosferatu. As some of you may remember, Bruce Campbell opted to not return to the role of Elvis, even at the behest of Paul Giamatti who was lined up to play the Colonel. Man that would have been sweet.
