I really like Wallace and Gromit. The style of the characters seem to be able to pull off over the top comedy, without feeling slapsticky or silly. Wallace and Gromit and the Curse of the Were-Rabbit was a real treat, and I’ve been really surprised that we haven’t really heard anything else from the pair of stop motion entertainers since the film. Until now. Yahoo gives us this:
Plasticine pals Wallace and Gromit are to appear in a new short film, the first since their Oscar-winning animated feature movie. The intrepid inventor and his faithful dog sidekick will star in a half-hour installment, “Trouble at Mill” about the quirky duo’s attempts to run a bakery business, creator Nick Park said on a video posted on their Web site. “In this film Wallace and Gromit have got a new business, they’re into baking and they’ve built a windmill on the top of their house to grind the corn, to bake the bread and with a dough-to-door delivery service,” he said.
The article goes on to say that they’ll start shooting in January and that it will take them 8 MONTHS to shoot the 30 minute special. 8 MONTHS!?!?! Wow. I knew that stuff was difficult and time consuming… but I didn’t realize they’d need 8 months to do a half hour. That takes the type of patience I just don’t have. A tip of the cap to you sir.
