John Cusack is in talks to star in the Weinstein Company’s upcoming drama, ‘Shanghai.’
Movieweb gives us this:
The project is being helmed by Cusack’s 1408 director Mikael Hafstrom. If he accepts the role, Cusack would be playing an America that returns to Shanghai four months prior to Pearl Harbor. He discovers that his friend has been killed. Trying to solve the mystery behind his friend’s death, he falls in love and discovers a government secret.
Oh wow…this sounds like something we have NEVER seen before. (*For all of those that can’t tell, I’m being sarcastic)
I LOVE John Cusack. Since his performance in ‘Grosse Pointe Blank,’ I have always supported his films by going to the theatres or renting them when they come out, and considering that Mikael Hafstrom is directing this film, it’s very likely John Cusack will be teaming up with this director again for this film.
However, I think it is a BAD career move to be apart of movie involving the events of Pearl Harbour and having the movie focus on a love story. (We saw what happened the first time)
This may be the first John Cusack movie I have to skip out on. (Yeah, and I watched ‘Must Love Dogs.’)
