Well there goes any hope I had for the new Terminator film. Back in October we mentioned to you guys the rumor that McG was in talks to direct the new Terminator film that’s going to be called: “TERMINATOR SALVATION: THE FUTURE BEGINS” (bad title, but not the worse I’ve ever heard). Well now it appears its been confirmed. McG has signed on to direct the film.
The folks over at JoBlo give us this:
We received a report last night about the signing from an inside source and we were able to independently confirm the news this morning. With McG at the helm, at least you can guarantee a good looking movie. Whether it’ll be any good remains to be seen.
As I’ve mentioned on The Movie Blog before, I’m one of those people who actually did enjoy the first Charlie’s Angels movie. It was fun, nothing more nothing less… but the man followed that up with one of the worst sequels in movie history in Charlie’s Angels 2: Full Throttle. I still have nightmares about that pile of garbage.
So what can we expect from Terminator 4 now? Well… as others have already mentioned, it will be visually interesting, the narrative will be fizz from a shaken pop bottle and it will probably look more like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles than the Terminator by the time is all said and done. Oh well.
The one good thing is that Arnold is NOT going to be in the film. Don’t get me wrong… I love the big guy to death… but his time as an action film star is done. (thanks to Adam for the heads up)
