Jian Gui (International English Title: “The Eye”) was one of the freakiest Asian horror films I’ve ever seen… so a North American remake seems like a good idea. No, the track record of Asian horror remade into English hasn’t exactly been stealer (actually it’s been pretty terrible) but that doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t try if the premise is a good one… and The Eye is a good one.
For those of you who may not know, in The Eye, Jessica Alba plays a woman who has been blind most of her life and she gets the opportunity of her lifetime by getting a double corneal transplant (she got new eyes). She slowly starts to regain her sight, but begins seeing things… horrible dark things (cue spooky music).
Anyway, even though I’ve never been sold on Alba as an actress, I do have hope for this one. Check out the new “The Eye” trailer below. What do you think? Does it have a chance?
