It looks like we have another wedding comedy coming down the pipe! We get news of this matrimonial combat film via comingsoon:
Anne Hathaway has been set to star with Kate Hudson in Bride Wars, and Gary Winick has signed to direct the romantic comedy for New Regency, reports Variety.
Hathaway and Hudson will play best friends who are pitted against each other when their wedding dates clash. They compete for venues, services and guests, once it’s clear that neither will step aside.
I am a person that has no real desire to ever get married. I think it is an antiquated ritual that puts the cart before the horse. For me a 50th anniversary should have the pomp and circumstance of a wedding. Two people coming together initially may be nothing deeper than chemical reaction and/or a need to ejaculate in someone. Two people that celebrate each other’s company 10 years on, is what I would consider love that demands ceremony. I understand I am in the minority however, and this is why a market exists for the wedding film.
I have seen ladies do crazy things in preparation for a wedding. Their “princess” day is as important to them as a military exercise and they treat it with like minded dedication and militance. Screaming, yelling, cursing and commanding … all part of getting everyone in line for the ritual of love. This is the funniest part of a wedding, and to heighten the tension by pitting two feral brides against each other is a golden idea.
Hathaway and Hudson both have serious chops and it should be a blast to see them act off of one another. With a blonde and a brunette we get to see Betty Vs Veronica as they battle for the affections of their mutual friends using feminine wiles and diabolical subterfuge! A fan of weddings I may not be, but this film here may be great to see.
