Child star Dakota Fanning and R&B sensation Alicia Keys are in talks to join the cast of ‘The Secret Life of Bees.’ The upcoming film already has Queen Latifah, Jennifer Hudson, and Sophie Okonedo on board to star in the film adaptation of the best selling novel.
Yahoo!News gives us this:
“Bees,” a drama set in the Southern U.S. in the 1960s, centers on teenager Lily Owens (Fanning) and her friend Rosaleen (Hudson) who flee their hometown to escape their harsh upbringing and seek to uncover the mysteries of Lily’s late mother. Along the way, they encounter three beekeeping sisters (Latifah, Okonedo, Keys) who take the pair in to their South Carolina home.
Hmm…am I the only thinking how random it is to have Dakota Fanning and Jennifer Hudson playing best friends? I mean there’s quite a gap in their ages. I would have to see this movie or read the book to accept this as a believable friendship.
Also, as much as I love Alicia Keys as a singer, I have to say she doesn’t do anything for as an actress. She’s not ‘JESSICA SIMPSON’ bad or anything, but from what I’ve seen from her in this year’s ‘Smoking Aces’ and ‘The Nanny Diaries,’ I was not impressed. If her budding film career is the reason why it’s takes years for her albums to come out, then I beg her to stop now and to focus on her music. :P
‘The Secret Life of Bees’ is a Fox Searchlights project and will be released late 2008.
