It looks like Tucci and The Streep will be working together anew as husband and wife in the upcoming film Julie & Julia. We get the scoop from the professionals at Variety:
Stanley Tucci will reteam with his “The Devil Wears Prada” co-star Meryl Streep for Columbia Pictures’ “Julie & Julia.” Amy Adams also will star in the pic to be directed by Nora Ephron.
Film centers on a frustrated temp secretary (Adams) who embarks on a yearlong culinary quest to cook all 524 recipes in Julia Child’s “Mastering the Art of French Cooking.” She chronicles her trials and tribulations in a blog that catches on with the food crowd. Story also covers the Childs’ years in Paris during the 1940s and ’50s, when Paul was a foreign diplomat who was eventually investigated by Sen. Joseph McCarthy for alleged communist ties.
Ephron adapted the screenplay from Julie Powell’s book “Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen.”
Tucci and The Streep team up in The Devil Wears Prada was fantastic. I loved that movie and have no shame in admitting it, the story was fairly predictable (but very entertaining) and the acting was downright incredible. It pleases me that these two are able to riff off of one another once again in this picture about American cooking legend Julia Child.
Flip flopping between a gal who is working through the recipes of an author, and the author’s life is a cool idea. The works of people may live on, and I am delighted to discover the stories behind the creation and the biography of the creator. This film shows past, present and the delicious recipes that live on in both ages.
Amy Adams owned her role in Enchanted, and landing a gig beside The Streep and Tucci is great news for her. I think we are going to start seeing a lot more of this talented young lady, and with good reason. This film is stuffed to the brim with talent, and now we wait and see how popular a film about cooking throughout the ages will be.
