The Writer’s strike may be hurting Hollywood, but it’s not hurting first time screenwriters Anthony Grieco and Jeff Drongowski. Their script (coincidentally named ‘Hurt.’) has been optioned by the producers of ‘Rob Zombie’s Halloween.’
Our good friends at Cinematical gives us these details:
Variety reports that producers of Rob Zombie’s Halloween have nabbed the horror thriller—the first script sold by writers Anthony Grieco and Jeff Drongowski, for newcomer Adam Finberg to direct.
Coincidentally, the script was optioned by Trancas International Films just before the writers strike, on Halloween. The film focuses on “a group of estranged best friends who are reunited after another commits suicide. The gathering ends up becoming a bloodbath because the meeting was set up as retribution.
Hmm…as a horror geek this sounds highly intriguing. I’m a sucker for a good old fashioned slasher film and I have been craving to see a movie that doesn’t deal with the ever so popular self-referential horror we have been seeing for over a decade.
‘Rob Zombie’s Halloween’ made tons of money, but will ‘Hurt’ make just as much? I highly doubt it, but if the trailer looks as good as the concept sounds, then I’ll definitely be at theatres opening day.
