Last week, I wrote an editorial about how one can tell a lot about a man from his choices of movie posters he puts on his wall. (Click HERE to read part 1) In the last part of the editorial I asked for fellow readers to send me photos of their posters for me to analyze. I just have to say, this past week I have been over-whelmed with questions and photos and comments, and I am so happy and I thank everyone for all the positive feedback. However, because of the overwhelming emails, I won’t be able to comment on everybody’s choices. I did my best, so here are my thoughts on a man’s movie posters sent by great TMB readers.
TMB reader Matt Baker-Serenity
Matt having the Serenity poster can suggest that he is the loyal type. He’s doesn’t give up on people or things when the majority has. (He will most likely always stand by you.) Also, he is probably a devout Nathan Fillion fan. (The “Bruce Campbell” of Sci-Fi) So girls, it would be very wise of you to not mention that the guy on his poster is the same guy on ‘Desperate Housewives’ this season. If you do, prepare for a “I can’t believe he’s selling out’ rant.
TMB reader Steven Landry-Fight Club
There are two common posters I see for ‘Fight Club.’ (a.k.a. “The ulimate guy’s art film”) The first one is the one with Brad Pitt shirtless with a cigarette in his mouth, looking down and standing over his defeated opponent. If you see this poster on his walls, you should know that this poster is a guy’s “Cosmopolitan cover.” He wants to be this guy, just like girls want to be Jessica Alba when they see her on the cover of a popular magazine. However, this poster on Steven’s wall suggests that not only does he like this movie a lot; (look at the size of it!) but that he knew it looked good to decorate a room! So I simply see this pick as a decoration choice, rather than a subconscious choice. (This goes for ‘Pulp Fiction’ as well!)
TMB reader Colin Stewart-Batman
In my first part of this editorial, I had mentioned how people who adore superhero movies are not afraid of putting their fetish out in the open. This is seemingly very true for Colin. However, when somebody makes a shrine of one particular movie or character, it suggests to me that somehow Colin may relate to Bruce Wayne/Batman somehow. (Don’t laugh!) I’d say this man was a homebody and very independent, and probably likes spending a lot of time by himself, rather than spending time with tons of people. He probably has two very different sides to him, and only the people who are very close to him see the true side of him.
TMB reader John Neal-Signed Kill Bill Poster
Wow, a man who has a signed Kill Bill poster is looking to impress. This is not just a poster to this man. This is a trophy to show off. This reader also told me that his fiancée had bought this particular poster for him, which also tells me that John has the ‘perfect woman.’ ;)
TMB reader John and TMB reader Kurt-Save The Green Planet/Shanghai Triad
Having these two posters (which I had to look up details about on IMDB) on these guys’ walls, suggest that these two go out of their way to not be like the rest. They probably hate conformists, and pride themselves for not being afraid to be different and unique. They also have a keen taste in movies, and will most likely school you on all the obscure films you are missing out on.
TMB readers Dom Duncombe, Ryan Stephens, and Jeff Razey-Godzilla, Wolfman, Metropolis
These three posters suggest Dom, Ryan, and Jeff have very particular taste when it comes to movies. They probably long to go back into time when a movie was not judged by how much money it makes opening weekend, and appreciate the scares and the look of the films as much as audiences did back then. I would say they are very old-fashioned kind of guys. (Considering my generation, that’s not exactly a bad thing :P)
TMB reader RoguePirate-Titanic
I have to admit, I giggled when I first saw that this movie poster was on a couple of guys’ lists. Luckily, I calmed down and was able to give it a serious analysis. There were a couple of male readers out there that had ‘Titanic’ posters, yet they also had every other James Cameron movie poster on their walls. Having a shrine of movie posters from powerhouse directors like Cameron, Lucas, Spielberg, and Scorsese suggests that the man fell in love with films at a very young age. I also wouldn’t be surprised if he aspired to be or is an aspiring film director/screenwriter. However, if you’re like Rogue Pirate, and have Titanic on your walls and not other James Cameron movies, this suggests that this man is a BRAVE soul. He is not afraid what others think of him, and is probably very secure. (He’d have to be considering the hell he must get from his friends.)
TMB reader Alex-Shortbus
So Alex said this poster was chosen by his wife and put in the bedroom. This tells me they must have a very “healthy” sex life and whatever they do behind closed doors, I DON’T WANT TO KNOW! :P
Once again, thanks guys for all the feedback and feel free to use the comment section to discuss any more movie posters!
Here’s a little something for you guys. (I’m sure TMB readers Daryl and Drewbacca will like this) These are the posters going on my wall. What do these posters say about me? :P
