It looks like the Bourne series will continue to grow in due time. We get wind of this news thanks to the mystical caves of yahoo:
Their ears ringing with the sound of three Oscar wins for the Bourne Ultimatum, Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass have reportedly committed to add a fourth film to the critically acclaimed action franchise. Per Daily Variety, Damon and Greengrass, who took over from Bourne Identity director Doug Liman to helm the second and third installments in the series, are on board but because of prior commitments it could be a few years before cameras start rolling.
That should give producers time to figure out Bourne’s next step, considering late author Robert Ludlum penned only three bestselling novels about the amnesiac secret agent on the hunt for the shady figures who turned him into a steely killing machine. Two sequels by Eric Van Lustbader, The Bourne Legacy and The Bourne Betrayal, haven’t been reviewed quite so kindly.
I am cool if they decide to grow the franchise, but I hope they get their own writers to pen the tale if the follow up books were so disappointing. It looks like both Damon and Greengrass have a love for the franchise and that is certainly encouraging. They have done a fantastic job with the series and as long as it remains in their hands, I am certain that they will want to keep the ball of acclaim rolling.
With 3 technical Oscar wins, they have to be excited, and the following announcement can be no coincidence. It looks like this may be on the shelf for a while before the two are free to tackle this project, but patience may be an ally in this case as they figure out what to do about the script.
International friends, would you welcome another Bourne film or was 3 enough?
