The ShoWest award announcements keep on coming, this we we learn that Chris Nolan is set to take home the award for director of the year. We get the scoop today from the professionals at Variety:
Christopher Nolan has been named ShoWest director of the year. Award will be presented at the upcoming ShoWest exhib confab in Las Vegas. Nolan is next in theaters with Warner Bros.’ “The Dark Knight,” his follow-up to “Batman Begins.”
Filmmaker’s other credits include “The Prestige” and “Memento.” Nolan will receive the award at ShoWest’s closing night banquet on March 13.
ShoWest has its own set of rules when it comes to selecting people for awards. They announce names of people that don’t seem to be getting awards from anywhere else. We will have to look into the selection process at ShoWest. I am guessing that they have a bunch of names on a board, and with the throw of a dart, the winners are selected. If this were true, I would be fine with it – you had to get on the board to be hit by fate…and the dart throwing event would be fun.
This is a year of celebration for Nolan, he is currently pregnant with child and will birth The Dark Knight upon us July 18, 2008.
