Yes, this may sound like a weird news item to put on TMB, but it’s something that people should know. At a screening for the horror film, ‘The Signal,’ at a AMC theatre in Fullerton, California, two men were reportedly stabbed Sunday night. This is very eerie news considering the movie is about people who go crazy and kill people after hearing a signal.
Shocktillyoudrop.com gives us more of this shocking news:
According to MSNBC, a man lashed out with a knife during the film, stabbing the seat next to him then a nearby movie-goer. On the run, another audience member received a few lacerations. Both victims took most of the blows to their arm, however, one received a chest wound. They were each hospitalized and are expected to live. When police arrived on the scene – answering a call about a discovered bag of “illegal substances” – theater patrons were rushing out of the screening. The attacker reportedly was kicked out the AMC earlier in the night. He ultimately got away and no arrests.
It’s pretty sad that we live in a world where the events that happened in the first ten minutes of ‘Scream 2’ can actually happen. It makes me sick that people can’t even go to the theatres to escape reality without risking their lives anymore. I found this to be a good news item to post, because it’s only a matter of time before we hear about “the psychological effects of cinematic violence” debate again. I am one of those firm believers that think anybody who blames movies to be the cause for murders and crime needs their head(s) examined.
I happen to be one of the biggest horror fans around, but I’m not capable of re-enacting any horrible events displayed in a horror movie. I just hope the media will realize this was an isolated incident and to not blame the movies…yet again.
