Another cast member has joined the star studded cast of ‘Marley and Me,’ the film adaptation to the best selling novel. ‘Grey Anatomy’ star, Eric Dane has signed on to play Owen Wilson’s best friend in the movie.
Variety gives us more details:
Wilson plays the ambitious reporter who moves with his wife (Aniston) to Miami for a newspaper job. Dane will play the journo’s best friend, who suggests that the reporter adopt a puppy as a substitute for the children his wife wants to have. Marley morphs from an adorable Lab puppy into an incorrigible handful.
To be honest, I don’t what to think about this movie. I haven’t read the memoirs, but it just seems like most of the actors cast shouldn’t be involved in this movie, because it seems like it’s going to be a ‘Beethoven’ like comedy. I honestly think Jennifer Aniston is capable of being a character who is not Rachel Green, I just would like to see her in more roles that proves that.
I can’t blame Owen Wilson however. It’s going to take a long time before the public “forgets” about his attempted suicide last year, so just to see him go back to work is good news.
T
his sounds like a good move for Eric Dane. It’s a very safe role and is great for an up and coming actor. I haven’t seen him on ‘Grey Anatomy,’ however I watched in him ‘Open Water 2’ (or I should call it ‘Adrift.’) and was surprised to see how good he was in the role.
So what are your thoughts? Are you interested in seeing ‘Marley and Me?’
