I absolutely loathed the first Madagascar movie. To me, it perfectly illustrated the difference between studios who make solid story films using the animation medium, and other studios who couldn’t care less about quality, just throw up some talking animals, do fart jokes and know the kids will eat it up. Yes, I thought the penguins were hilarious, but they were a small part of the film.
But the sad truth is that the movie made a LOT of money, and so it was inevitable that a sequel would be on the way. Madagascar: The Create Escape is now descending upon us like a bad flu and I just had the misfortune of seeing the first teaser trailer for it (I have no idea how long this has been out there). Looks as high quality as the first one.
