It looks like Edgar Wright and Michael Cera are going to join forces in the upcoming conquer-for-love comedy Little Life. We get the skinny from comigsoon:
Michael Cera is in final negotiations to star in Scott Pilgrim’s Little Life for Universal, says The Hollywood Reporter. Edgar Wright is directing the adventure romance, which is being produced by Marc Platt and Eric Gitter. Wright and Nina Park also are producing.
“Life” tells the story of a young slacker (Cera) who meets the woman of his dreams but finds that he can only win her heart by battling and defeating her seven evil ex-boyfriends. The project is based on the Oni Press graphic novel “Scott Pilgrim Volume 1: Scott Pilgrim’s Precious Little Life,” written by Bryan Lee O’Malley. Michael Bacall and Wright wrote the screenplay.
I heard about his project a while back and it sounded cool. The story has a fairy tale plot, and I can appreciate that. I am not sure if Michael Cera is the man I pictured when I head about the project; he is hilarious, but can he best 7 men in battle to the death? I was thinking maybe maybe a Joe Rogan or Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. A role like this would be perfect for a guy that is funny – and can kick ass.
Perhaps Cera will get a mystical shank and be able to best his foes with some good, old fashioned, dirty knife-fighting techniques. You know the type; a guy is sitting for dinner with his family, and all of a sudden you jump from behind the curtains and slice his throat while the roast beef is still hot on the fork en route to his mouth! It is this kind of dirty trickery that I will be looking for from Cera as he ventures into this Game Of Death.
Production for this project is slotted for the fall and we will be sure to keep you posted on the progress.
