It looks like the pop/punk/emo band Fall Out Boy will be featured in a road/amish sex comedy with Seth Green entitled Sex Drive. We get wind of this news from our friends at MTV Movies Blog:
The story goes that on the way to a show in Ohio, FOB’s tour bus breaks down, and they’re stranded in the middle of Amish country. Luckily, they’re quickly discovered by none other than Seth Green, whose character, Ezekiel, sports a rather unweildy beard and an overwhelming desire to never end his Rumspringa (an Amish tradition in which adolescent members of the faith leave their secluded lives and engage in all manner of real-world chicanery.) Ezekiel agrees to fix the band’s bus, in exchange for them playing his Rumspringa party. By coincidence, the film’s protagonist, Josh Zuckerman, and his two pals (Clark Duke and Amanda Crew) have also found themselves stranded in Ezekiel’s village (they’re on the road from Chicago to Nashville to meet a girl Zuckerman falls in love with on the Internet), and much rocking, smoking of home-made bongs, beer funnelling and shenanigans ensue.
I am very skeptical about this film. Fall Out Boy is not the band that is going to bring the necessary hedonistic debauchery needed for an Amish Frat film. Andrew W.K. would have been a better pick, the Norwegian band Turbonegro or the tried and true hedonist kings Motley Crue. I am guessing Fall Out Boy was chosen because they are popular with the kids; but they were a poor fucking choice.
Seth Green is involved with Robot Chicken, and that show rules; but I am not sure if he alone can save this film. We follow the story of a guy hunting down his internet love and Seth’s never ending Rumspringa – it sounds like they are trying to fit two teenage comedies into one. I am also uncertain as to how Seth Green’s Amish character has acquired a working knowledge of auto mechanics being raised in a society that shuns such modern conveniences. This one could surprise me, but I am not expecting much.
