Shoplifters beware! Seth Rogen will be enforcing justice at a shopping centre near you in the upcoming mall cop film Observe And Report. We get news of this project thanks to the fabled caves of yahoo:
Seth Rogen is readying his walkie-talkie for “Observe and Report,” a comedy about a deluded, self-important mall security guard who squares off in a turf war against the local cops. The project comes from writer/director Jody Hill (no relation to Rogen sidekick Jonah Hill), who pitched it to Warner Bros. two years ago.
We have a Kevin James Mall Cop movie coming out in 2009, if this film is to release in the same year, we will have quite a tribute to the occupation!
A mall cop would be an easy job to get sucked into. You walk the mall, make friends, wave at mall sluts and then you realize that 15 years have passed. Most mall cops eventually want to be police officers, but I think mall protection is just as noble a cause, and the stress is non existent. Mall cops need more love.
I think Rogan is a great casting for a mall cop character, and this has all the marking to be a fun film for sure. Mallrats celebrated the drama that can happen at a covered shopping facility and I think we are due for another journey into the mall. We will be sure to keep you posted on the updates.
