The creators of Meet The Spartans have another film in the works that will lampoon Superbad and a host of other recent events/films/celebrities. We get wind of this unfortunate news thanks to our friends at moviehole:
Lionsgate’s “Goodie Two Shoes” will – not that a stratagem will come into it much, if at all – tell of a “group of friends who go on a life-changing adventure”. Apparently the main jokial thrust of this one will be ribbing films like “Superbad”. But, of course, and not unlike every other spoof film of the past couple of years, everything will be fair game. Will Smith’s forthcoming superhero jaunt “Hancock” is going to be spoofed, the “Sex and the City” movie (they’re looking for a guy – yes! A guy! – to play Carrie!) will too, and Mike Myers’s upcoming “The Love Guru” is even getting a ribbing.
I consider the work of Jason Friedberg & Aaron Seltzer to be un-watchable and a waste of time. The fact that many find their movies entertaining concerns me. Their spoof films are among the worst movies ever made, and for some unholy reason they continue to be make money. There is a demand for this type of product and the only place blame may be laid is at the feet of the viewers themselves.
It looks like you can now pretty much count on every fairly popular film to be spoofed, or be part of a spoof film. These films seem to be increasing in number and sadly, the only way for the onslaught to stop; is for people to stop watching. Start a petition, talk to your congressman, take your friend’s car keys. Do what you have to, in order to prevent people from supporting this garbage and growing the genre.
