Funnyman and auto enthusiast Jerry Seinfeld is alive and well after the breaks failed on his car and he rolled it to safety. We get word of this accident thanks to the blessed caves of Yahoo:
Jerry Seinfeld was in a harrowing rollover wreck but was unhurt after the brakes on one of his vintage cars failed. Seinfeld was driving alone when the brakes on his 1967 Fiat BTM stopped working Saturday evening, East Hampton Town Police Chief Todd Sarris told the New York Post. Seinfeld tried the emergency brake, to no avail, and then swerved to keep the car from careening into an intersection, Sarris said.
The two-door sedan flipped over and came to a stop just yards from the highway, Sarris said, adding that the comic’s maneuver “probably avoided a very serious accident.” “Because I know there are kids out there, I want to make sure they all know that driving without braking is not something I recommend, unless you have professional clown training or a comedy background, as I do,” Seinfeld said. “It is not something I plan to make a habit of.”
This seems a little fishy to me. Breaks not working on the car? Emergency break is out? I think someone is trying to off Jerry; I blame the butler. Oddly enough it appears the shady servant has employed the assassination tactics of the Canadian masterwork Strange Brew. Bob and Doug had their break-lines tampered with, and as a result ended up at the bottom of Lake Ontario. They managed to stay alive by sucking oxygen reserves out of empty beer bottles.
I enjoyed Seinfeld’s television show, but am not a huge fan of his comedy. I don’t think he sucks, its just that his style is not my cup of tea; and yet a film about him performing stand up, is among my favorites. For those of you that have not seen his documentary Comedian – I must highly recommend it. It is one of my most beloved docs, and really is a film that all of you should check out.
The good news is that Jerry is no worse for wear, and gets a decent story out of the deal.
