We learn today of a mini-series adaptation of Jack London’s The Sea Wolf starring Neve Campbell. This story was made available to us thanks to the professionals at Variety:
Tim Roth and Neve Campbell have joined the cast of Tele Munchen’s $19 million mini-skein “The Sea Wolf,” adapted from Jack London’s classic novel. Sebastian Koch (“The Lives of Others”) had already been announced in the lead role. Lensing is set to start imminently in Halifax, Canada, with the production set to be completed by the end of the year. “The Sea Wolf” will preem on Germany’s ZDF.
Jack London’s White Fang was mandatory reading in my grade school education. Although I do not remember many details from the book, I recall enjoying it as a youngster. The Sea Wolf is a book that I am unfamiliar with, but it appears that Jack London loved all things related to wolves.
I am uncertain if this film adaptation will be made available for wide release. It looks like it’s going to be made into a mini-series for German television. For those of you that reside in Germany, please let us know what you think of the series after you have had a chance to see it.
Neve Campbell has come out of hiding to star in this project. She was everywhere for a few years, and now has all but vanished. I am not certain if this is due to a lack of desire on her part to be part of the machine or if she is just being offered less roles. Regardless, this is a chance for her German fans to celebrate.
