Stalags is a film about the pulp books that share the same name that featured chesty SS guards that took advantage of their prisoners! We get wind of this documentary from the fabled caves of Yahoo:
A potentially fascinating and provocative subject has been given an unfortunately dry treatment in “Stalags,” a brief documentary about the lurid, Nazi-themed pornographic novels that were hugely popular in Israel in the early 1960s.
This little-known (at least on these shores) phenomenon took hold of Israel not long after the trial of Adolf Eichmann, which brought renewed attention to the atrocities of the Holocaust. Named after the Nazi prison camps in which they were set, stalags were pulp paperback novels containing breathlessly graphic stories of lusty SS women (not that there actually were any) sexually abusing captured British and American soldiers. They were huge best-sellers, no doubt thanks to titles like “I Was Colonel Schultz’s Private Bitch” and their lurid covers, in which the Nazi-uniform-clad sexual predators bared plenty of cleavage.
She Devils Of The SS is a movie that features a bunch of Nazi Sluts on a train. One scene features a Nazi Whore Clown and is very, very peculiar. This film immediately came to mind when I read this story and I am interested in getting my hands on this documentary.
Why would the children of holocaust survivors find these pulps so entertaining? I am guessing that there was a therapeutic effect that these books may have had in the Israeli fans. The holocaust was still very real in the minds of everyone. Perhaps reading about chesty SS guards and their desire for prison cock is a way to remember the event and forget it all at the same time. I find that when you are able to make light of something; you take back the power the situation has over you.
….and say what you will about the nazis – they did have outstanding outfits. They were among the greatest military uniforms ever made, and any sultry lady in one is a full-on boner machine.
The good people at Yahoo did not fancy this film – but if you have seen it (it is in NY currently) please share your thoughts with us. Also if you have ever read any of these pulps please let us know what they are like.
