There is just a certain charm found in Simon Pegg/Edgar Wright films that just makes me excited knowing they are standing in the same room considering another project. Well news that the Cornetto Trilogy of their films that started with Shaun of the Dead and continued with Hot Fuzz will be bookended by World’s End.
The Guardian caught Wright at a London press conference, where the director announced a two-film deal with Working Title Films — World’s End with Pegg, and a separate action thriller currently titled Baby Driver.
Wright wouldn’t give up much on what genre it would be, but admitted it might be a doomsday sci-fi piece. “It’s kind of going in that direction.” Sci-fi does seem to be an appropriate choice for the mint chocolate chip Cornetto that is supposed to appear.
I have always liked the idea of their Ice Cream tie in to these completely unrelated movies. Especially these movies. It shows how a team can make movies and still fit it into the identity of a trilogy.
Perhaps they will go the route of Douglas Adams and offer up a Trilogy in 5 parts. I don’t want this team to stop doing their thing just because their trilogy is over.
Lucas didn’t. Wait, bad example.
