Smallville loves their Canadians, and last season included Toronto native Laura Vandervoort as Kara Zor-el. You can call her Supergirl. Well she is trading in her Kryptonian powers for the big screen sequel Into the Blue 2.
Canadian actress Laura Vandervoort nabbed herself a super gig as the role of Supergirl in Smallville. Now it seems that she’s heading for the seas. She’s scored a lead role in Into the Blue 2. Vandervoort will play a girl on a professional scuba team who get hired to find Columbus’ hidden treasure.
One of my favourite shows on TV has to be Smallville. They have long since distanced themselves from the DC Universe, but it seems to work fine. The one character I have no feeling towards whatsoever is Supergirl. Now all the issues I have with this character actually have nothing to do with Laura Vandervoort. She embodies that Dutch beauty with the blond hair and blue eyes, and really flatters the skimpy little outfits they put her in. She plays the role they gave her really well. I just dont think Supergirl needed to be there.
But as far as her role in this movie, I see this as a direct to video sequel but again, not Vandervoort’s fault. Just a movie she happens to be in that really doesn’t need to happen.
