Batman:The Dark Knight has been one of the most flooded internet marketing experience I could ever recall, and now finally just weeks into the Summer movie season the website is finalized and ready for launch. But what’s left to launch?
With as much fanfare as you could imagine, IESB.net announces:
The launch of the official Dark Knight website was today. They’ve got a photo gallery (no new images), video (no new video) and downloads (a few wallpapers of the posters).
This is the biggest problem with this flooding of content and teasers and their misnamed “viral” websites promoting this film. This has been OVER promoted – online. The viral sites were not viral, they were just flooded. The publicity is insane about this. There has been so much to talk about this film that we talk about it all the time. We are ready to see it.
Don’t get me wrong, I am still stoked about this movie. But the way it has been promoted online (where I get most of my movie news) you would think this movie is coming out this weekend.
Now the site gets its “official” final launch and there is little there that we haven’t already seen before. The whole “official launch” announcement was just a weak attempt for them to draw attention to say “we added a few goodies to the site” and instead shouted from the rooftops that the site is FINISHED!
Now I have not seen much of this on TV yet, so perhaps they are shifting their focus and now as TV Spots become more predominate, they will lead people to their now completed and fully operational website.
