The apocalypse film 2012 has gained a new cast member in Amanda Peet. We get the casting scoop from the cannibal caves of Yahoo:
Amanda Peet has landed the female lead in director Roland Emmerich’s epic disaster feature “2012.” The film’s cast, led by John Cusack, includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton, Danny Glover and Oliver Platt.
“2012” revolves around a global cataclysm and the heroic struggle of the survivors. Cusack plays a divorced father trying to become a writer while holding a job as a limo driver. Peet will play Cusack’s ex-wife, newly married to a wealthy man.
Roland Emmerich isn’t a man that I trust for excellent product, but I tend to enjoy apocalyptic films very much. It is my hope that this film is a world better than The Day After Tomorrow. I want to see terror in the streets and riotous behavior from a world slipping back into primitivism.
Amanda Peet has the look of a pretty high school english teacher. In this film it appears that she will be a kept woman after she kicks Cusack to the curb. That job is better than english teacher, and the pay is probably better too.
We will be sure to keep you posted on this film, I don’t have my hopes set high – but I’m hoping for a surprise delight.
