A moment of Ireland’s violent history will be tackled in Five Minutes of Heaven. We get news of the casting and following plot information from the professionals at Variety:
Liam Neeson and James Nesbitt are teaming up to tackle the Northern Ireland Troubles in “Five Minutes of Heaven.” Project, which is currently shooting on location in Northern Ireland, tells the story of two men wracked by the violence that plagued Northern Ireland from the late 1960s through to the peace process in 1998, and how they attempt to come to terms with the Troubles’ aftermath.
I was an ocean away from this violence, and didn’t exist for most of it, but I remember seeing various news pieces as a child and grew up during this time. For those that now enjoy peace, this will be a painful reminder of what was, and also a joyous celebration of what is no longer.
Liam Neeson is a man with serious chops that I always enjoy seeing in film. Both he and Nesbitt are Irish sons, and as people who have lived through the history that they seek to portray; are probably best suited to do so.
I am not certain if this film is gong to have an international release or just be shown in the UK, but I will try and find an answer for you.
