This morning we learn of anothher comic book film adaptation. The three issue series “Red” is up for transformation, we get wind of this news from the mystical caves of yahoo:
Summit Entertainment is entering the comic-book adaptation business, picking up the movie rights to WildStorm/DC Comics’ “Red,” which revolves around a former CIA agent.
The three-issue comic series, published in 2003, told the story of a former black-ops CIA agent now living a quiet life in retirement until the day a high-tech assassin shows up intent on killing him. With his secret identity compromised and his love interest in danger, the man must reassemble his old team to figure out who is after them. The book was written by Warren Ellis.
I like the idea of the past coming back to haunt someone who is enjoying retirement retirement. Smoke bellows out of the chimney, a pot of coffee is on the stove Mr. Cia is reading a book in his favorite chair ..and then a bullet whizzes by his head. Back to work….
I am not that into CIA/Cop films but I do like stories about assassins, so I’ m hoping that this film will be one that pulls me in. For those of you that have read Red, please share your thoughts on the series with us.
