We have obtained news about a new rock-u-drama named The Perfect Age of Rock ‘n’ Roll. We get the following details from the professionals at Variety:
Kevin Zegers will star in indie “The Perfect Age of Rock ‘n’ Roll” alongside Jason Ritter. Spike Lee is exec producing the dramatic music-themed project; production is under way on location in New Jersey, New York and Los Angeles. Scott Rosenbaum wrote and is directing the film.
Story centers on a rock star (Zegers) who retreats to his Long Island hometown after his sophomore album flops.
I love rock and roll and will always welcome a good story about the people that make it happen. Birthed by the androgynous genius known as Little Richard, the fledgling style was fed by Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis and Buddy Holly. When Elvis came on board he took the product, made it his own… and sold the shit out of it. To quote Buddy Holly “none of us would be making money if it wasn’t for Elvis.”
Over 50 years on, Rock And Roll, is still alive and well. Unassuming garages across the world may contain a drum-kit, some carpet, a smattering of amps and a bunch of sweaty dreamers trying to carve out songs from sound. When you make a song with a group of friends, and blast it through amps – it’s hard to describe the rush of accomplishment that swells within you. It’s no surprise to me that many hope to make Rock their 9-5.
A film about a band that has a flop is a welcome take on the brutal music business. This is a great idea for a rock film, and a sombre reminder that even the greatest jobs have their tough times. I look forward to learning more about this picture and will be sure to keep you dudes up to speed.
