The captivatingly pretty Zoe Saldana is hardly a newcomer, but you most likely might recall her from Pirates of the Carribean as the female pirate to which Jack Sparrow owes a ship. She’s been around far more than that and its nice to see her step into the big leagues taking a step where no woman has gone before.
Zoe Saldana will be reprising the role of a younger Nyota Uhura in JJ Abrams’ Star Trek. In a recent interview she reveals some of her experiences taking on such an iconic role.
ComingSoon.net wastes no time getting to the important stuff:
CS: Can you tease if you wear the mini-skirt? Did you get your legs in shape for this role?
Saldana: All I’m going to say is that for some reason every man on set noticed when I was working. It was like “God, I don’t know – Was it my line? My deliverance? Oh. Okay.” That’s all I’m going to say.
The interview hits on a few things since she’s pretty much under penalty of death if she says too much about the film. She shares about a meeting with an uberfan Trekkies (Trekkers?) and how she felt about playing the part made so Iconic my Nichelle Nichols.
Of course, they manage to get one other big leak from her that the die hards were curious about.
CS: Okay, you’ve got to give up one little thing: did you get to say “Hailing frequencies open?”
Saldana: [long pause, then grinning widely] F*ck, yeah!
There are three things Uhara was known for. Her grace, her strong presence and her legs. Zoe seems to have all those down. This all looks good to me so far.
