The Target documentary award went to Darius Marder for “Loot.” The documentary jury also gave a special commendation to Jennifer Grausman and Mark Becker for “Pressure Cooker.”
First off, I would like to congratulate all of the above winners. I will do my best to see all of these fan favorites.
Special mention however must go to Anvil! The Story of Anvil. Anvil is a very influential Canadian thrash metal band that never got the success that they deserved. It pleases me to no end that a documentary about their life and times has been selected as a fan favorite. This is a film that I must devour as soon as possible. I enjoy the musical stylings of Anvil and cannot help but cheer for this team of underdogs. I couldn’t ask for better news on Canada Day
I will try to get my hands on a screener of this film and review it as soon as humanly possible for you. Until then – check out Anvil’s song 666!
