Sex And The City Sequel Already In Motion

Satc-2-2I’ve never watched a single episode of Sex and the City, so when I went to see the flick I was worried I wouldn’t be able to follow what was going on… and as someone who is the proud possessor of a penis, i didn’t really think there was much chance I’d enjoy it… but surprisingly enough I thought the movie was pretty good. Certainly not great, but good.

The money this movie made was crazy (not as much as a lot of people thought it would make, but tons nonetheless) lead me to believe that another Sex and the City movie would be coming sooner rather than later. And some people scoffed at me:

“Oh John… the actresses won’t want to do another one”

“Oh John… this one finished off the story perfectly”

But I’ve always maintained that these actresses… despite what their PR people may say to maintain their image, would jump, claw and beg to get another one of these films made because let’s face it… none of them have a career outside of this franchise. That includes Sarah Jessica Parker (who has done nothing of note). Once you get accustomed to the money and attention and fame… then you realize no one cares about you outside of the franchise… you start looking for a way back into that franchise ASAP.

Well, turns out a Sex and the City sequel is already well underway. The good folks over at Cinematical give us the following:

Luckily, single men will most likely have another opportunity to mingle with the SATC crowd over a tub of popcorn and a sexy Dr. Pepper as Entertainment Weekly reports a sequel to Sex and the City is already in development and is apparently being fast-tracked by Warner Brothers (New Line put out the first flick). Michael Lombardo, president of HBO’s programming group, told folks during a press tour that “there’s a lot of energy behind doing another SATC movie.”

This is a no brainer. Simple business sense dictates they do it. But my one question is this… what do you make the movie about? I’ve got to agree with most people that the movie seemed to tie everything off (almost too tidily) at the end. Where do you go from here? Does “Big” die? Do two of them become lesbians?
