Bruce Campbell Says No Annoying Young Sidekick For Evil Dead 4

Well this should be good news to a lot of people. With films like Die Hard 4 adding Justin Long to Bruce Willis and Indiana Jones adding Shia LaBeouf to Harrison Ford, the fact that it’s been 16 years since we last saw Ash in Army Of Darkness had a lot of people worried that when they proceeded with Evil Dead 4, the producers would feel the need to add a younger actor to work along side the immortal Bruce Campbell.

Not to worry says the mighty Campbell. That just ain’t going to happen:

“Sam gets to hide behind the camera. I can’t. But I think he’s planning on factoring that in,” Campbell revealed. “As like a major factor. It’d be a major liability, you know Ash runs out of breath or his back goes out and [stuff] like that. I mean I just blew my hamstring fighting a stunt guy for ‘Burn Notice,’ the show that I’m doing now. So there’s a little bit of truth to all of that!”

The young sidekick character? Yeah, not so much gonna happen in “Evil Dead,” Campbell declared. “I think the audience would be insulted if you did, because then you feel this obvious pressure to appeal,” he said. “The beauty of the ‘Evil Dead’ movies is that you’re only appealing to one demographic and that’s people who like horror movies. And you just have to please them. You don’t have to appeal to the studio. You’re already pleasing them by giving them part 4.”

All hail Bruce and his benevolent wisdom which he showers upon us like mana from heaven! Truth is found in the words of Bruce!

Now let’s be honest here… I still don’t think that an Evil Dead 4 will be very big at the old box office… as a matter of fact I suspect it will do pretty small business, but if they make it for cheap enough, that’s just fine. But even though I don’t think the new film will be “popular”, I personally can’t wait to see it come to life. We need one more good Ash adventure. Bruce never fails. Bruce is all. All hail Bruce.
