One of the fascinating things about Harry Potter is that we learn about the magical world through the eyes of a boy who has never been exposed to it. The supporting cast offers different perspectives on the same world. Harry’s best chum Ron is often clueless to the real “muggle” world and his gal pal sidekick Hermoinie is often sharing tidbits from her massive collection of books from the wizarding world.
Even though J.K. Rowling swore there would never be another Harry Potter book, it seems that promise does not apply to fun little books from within the world. Just in time for Christmas you can get yourself a copy of “Tales of Beedle the Bard” which was given to Hermoine by Professor Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore himself and this copy includes footnotes and observations by the legendary wizard.
In December 2007, J.K. Rowling unveiled The Tales of Beedle the Bard, a very special book of five fairy tales illustrated by the bard herself, embellished with silver ornaments and mounted moonstones. Now J.K. Rowling is giving millions of Harry Potter fans worldwide cause for celebration with a new edition of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, available December 4, 2008.
I know the Potter Zealots will all rise up and say this is a harbinger of another chapter in the Harry Potter Universe, but I still think JK will not be writing more Potter stories.
The series is done and brought to full satisfaction. There is no need to go back. I personally would love to see her allowing other authors to flesh out the Wizarding World much like the 50+ Star Wars novels have, but I honestly don’t see it happening.
I suspected that JK would release supporting materials or a “Complete guide to” book, but no more Potter stories. Perhaps we will see more of these books withing the book type releases from JK to keep the fans appetite up before the theme park is opened.
