With Nottingham filming being delayed, Russell Crowe has some time on his hands. So rather than take up knitting he is looking at picking up a part time job. Rumour has it that he has arranged to play Commedian Bill Hicks as soon as they finish with the script.
“I have another project based on the life of comedian Bill Hicks, which is going from treatment to draft stage with Kiwi writer Mark Staufer.”
It is understood he is considering playing the main role of Hicks — a controversial and brilliant American comedian who battled drug and alcohol abuse before dying from cancer at 32. Crowe confirmed Nottingham would not go ahead until March next year because director Sir Ridley Scott wanted the leaves on the trees in England’s Sherwood Forest to be the right colour.
I am pretty bumbed that Nottingham is being pushed back over something so petty as the colour of leaves.
But as much as I think Crowe would just rock the shit out of a man struggling in the emotional depths of drug and alcohol abuse, I find it strange to think of him as a comedian. Sounds like the movie will focus more on Hick’s off stage life so I guess that is acceptable.
