Ladies and Gentlemen, it appears the Mr. Bruce Willis will be strapping himself behind a camera and direct his very own film. We get wind of this news from our friends at comingsoon:
It looks like “Die Hard” star Bruce Willis will be moving behind the camera, making his directorial debut with the indie psychological drama Three Stories About Joan. Willis will be taking a supporting role in the movie as the father of Camilla Belle’s title character with Kieran Culkin co-starring.
Based on the screenplay by Christopher Alexander and Sam Applebaum, the story centers on a young woman at three points in her life and the family tragedies that cause her to lose her grip on reality. It’s scheduled to start shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana starting early next month.
I assumed if Bruce ever got behind the camera, that it would be for an action flick not a psycho-drama. Although his first pick does seem somewhat strange to me, I am now quite curious to see the film. I want to try and figure out why Willis wanted in on this, why did this film have to be the one to launch his directing career?
When you see a crazy person, often you wonder about their story. What drove them to madness? Was it drugs, natural causes or horrible life events that sent them over the edge. Three Stories About Joan seeks to fill us in on the why’s and how’s of one persons madness and I’ m interested in seeing what Mr. Willis brings.
Alternate titles could be Three Strikes; You’re Crazy, Crazy Joan or (to use Chris Elliot’s famous line) She’s As Nutty As A Jay Bird.
