Lethal Weapon scribe Shane Black has decided to sit behind the camera once again with Cold Warrior. We get the scoop thanks to the professionals at Variety:
Shane Black will direct Universal Pictures’ “Cold Warrior.”
Based on a script by Chuck Mondry, pic revolves around a spy from the Cold War era who comes out of retirement to team with a younger agent from the new school to confront a domestic terrorism threat orchestrated by Russia.
I like the title of this movie. It is very 80’s, which makes sense for the subject matter at hand. I miss the cold war and am glad tensions with Russia have escalated. Cold Wars make for good movies, and this one may lead the pack of the second wave.
Shane Black is an action writer and directed his own (and well received) Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. I saw him speak recently at the LA Shorts Fest, he was an entertaining speaker, had good things to say for aspiring writers and seemed like a quality dude. This is a guy that is well suited to tell this sort of tale and I look forward to seeing what he will bring us.
My biggest hope for this film is that somehow, somewhere the previous USSR national anthem is played. That is the greatest anthem ever penned.
